Sunday goodness and other things

As you may or may not know or have guessed part of my job is sharing cool stuff – not as much of my job as I would like – so I kind of lost speed there for a bit. But in no particular order, with no theme, with serious and funny mixed in, because I am tired of editorial judgment at the moment:

The Forgetting Pill over at Wired – PTSD treatment by taking a pill that removes your traumatic memory. As someone who has fought for her memories, this seems a bit backwards to me. I also think it has vast societal implications: Would it not, then, be easier to drug victims than to track down abusers and molesters? If you can’t remember it is it a victimless crime? I dunno.

Leo Babauta’s 9 essential things kids should learn. It probably goes without saying (although we are getting tested on it this year and stay tuned) that I completely believe kids can and do learn all this stuff in and while attending public school, despite his opener. But I do love this quote: “Unfortunately, I was educated in a school system that believed the world in which it existed would remain essentially the same, with minor changes in fashion.”

Look, a little Lynn (not ours):

If you aren’t reading Brain Pickings, why, I think you should.

After posting about the sad yesterday it mostly went away although I’m about to write a big comment there. This weekend has mostly been one for recharging – between Lynn and I we didn’t get enough sleep this week (I procrastinated on a freelance piece and stayed up worrying…and then the next day I totally fixed it and got more interviews than I needed. This second piece is what makes me think I might be making progress.)

I’m thinking I’m going to start tweeting @ShandraL again (I did only very briefly) just because that’s easier to manage with the speed of my life right now, so if you want to follow me go ahead and I’ll also install the plugin. My big fear is that I’ll mix that up with my two work and other personal Twitter accounts but…you have to live sometime right!
